    Simplot Don Plant
Major Pollution Source (*DEQ Classification)

J. R. Simplot Company has submitted an application and proposed permit to construct an air pollution-emitting source
to eliminate the throughput limit for the No. 300 sulfuric acid plant at their Don Plant.

The Don Plant produces multiple forms of industrial acids and fertilizers, and is the largest producing plant at the Pocatello site.

If this permit is allowed it will add more pollution into the Pocatello valley. It will also increase the level of environmental damage to the area, increase the level of health hazards to individuals who have respiratory and heart related ailments, and potentially other serious impacts on the community's economic growth and development.

Thank You to those who sent in their comments!

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality is now reviewing and responding to the public comments they received. Upon completion of their review, the IDEQ will issue a response as to the status of the permit.
