Before an overpacked council room and overflow crowd outside of the council room, there was 3 1/2 hours of discussion over the proposed development in the City Creek area. Defense and rebuttal were presented by the developers, the FFRD and the CDC. Following these presentations, 42 West Bench residents and other supporters came to the microphone and let the City Council know why they disapprove of the proposed development plan being presented to them. |

The City Council unanimously opted to use a state statue that allowed them to order the matter to mediation. The two parties have 15 days to try and reach an agreement on the proposed development. Judge Smith has agreed to serve as the mediator. Either the parties will present a joint solution that the council can accept, or if mediation does not work, the council will have to pick a solution. |
