The spirit of an old town neighborhood was abundant when around 200 people showed up to support the "Save the West Side Movement." Current and former residents of Old Town enjoyed food, music and pleasant conversation amidst lively debate over the looming high density development of the West Bench. The 200 Block of South Lincoln Avenue was closed from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. to allow local residents a chance to get together, get to know one another, and have a good ole' neighborly time.
Neighbors enjoyed a free BBQ and pot luck, while local musicians entertained the crowd , prizes were donated by local businesses and individuals for a fund raiser, kids enjoyed magic and balloon art provided by a Glenna the clown.
Special thanks to all the local businesses and individuals who donated items for the fund raiser (it was a great success), Nancy Goodman - party planner extraordinaire, Cliff Bryan for his generous donation to the cause, Del Monte Meats for donation of BBQ meats and grill, Harry Neuhardt (city councilman) for attending, Glenna the clown, Steve Sullivan and and the Jory Dax band for the musical entertainment, Vitit Kantabutra, John Looze, and Pam Edwards for photos, and everyone who donated time, food, and their support.
